Blog On Me Natalie Mueller Comments Off on 2022-2023 Emmy Award Win

This past weekend, my studio and our collaborators at WTTW were awarded a Chicago/Midwest 2022-2023 Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement for Informational/Instructional – Short and Long Form Content…so that’s officially Emmy Award Winning Writer/Producer Natalie to you, sir. Our friends at WTTW took home two Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and I’m delighted to have gotten the opportunity to be part of one of those wins. The award is for our ongoing series, “WTTW News Explains.” for which I am a writer and producer, punching up scripts, providing direction on potential visuals, pitching future topics and, as a fun little Easter Egg, providing the occasional sound effect, lol. Thank you to the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and congrats to all of...

Blog On Me Natalie Mueller Comments Off on Peter Lisagor Award Win

The 2022 Peter Lisagor Awards ceremony was this past weekend and I’m stoked to count myself among the winners alongside my colleagues at The Banditry Co. and our collaborators at WTTW. Our friends at WTTW took home nine Peter Lisagor Awards this year in recognition for their exemplary journalism. Among them was the award for Best Social or Short-Form Video, recognizing the “WTTW News Explains” series — an ongoing series of animated explainer videos exploring different facets, features and curiosities of Chicago. See the full list of 2022 Peter Lisagor Award recipients. Check out the whole series and WTTW News here.

Current Projects On Me Natalie Mueller Comments Off on How to Hire Me

Short answer: hire The Banditry Co. Long answer: I no longer work as a freelance copywriter. That statement is only about 98% true, but since co-founding The Banditry Co. in 2015, I’ve significantly scaled back the amount of pure copy clients that I take on. See, The Banditry Co. is a full-service animated video production company and much of my time and skills are occupied generating content and copy for clients seeking our services as a studio. As Copy Director, I take the lead on strategy and story, crafting concepts and scripts that best support our clients’ messages and goals. I do still take on strictly copywriting projects, but am largely focused on supporting clients interested in engaging my team and creating video marketing tools such as explainer videos, promotional...

Blog Current Projects On Me Natalie Mueller Comments Off on Copy Director at The Banditry Co.

It’s 2019 and I’ve realized that you, my loyal fans, are in for a long overdue update. It seems I never took the time to mention what I’ve been up to for the last 4 years! So, here we are. In 2015, I joined forces with a fellow creative and co-founded The Banditry Co., a full-service animation studio. “But Natalie,” you’re probably thinking, “You aren’t an animator…in fact you can hardly color in the lines of a coloring book let alone illustrate or draw.” Wow, harsh, but true. I understand your confusion. Allow me to explain. Throughout my career as a copywriter, I have carved myself a little niche as a sort of storytelling and brand voice specialist. I love it. I love wearing brands like a character and giving...

Blog Speak Freely Fridays Natalie Mueller Comments Off on Transparency Among Comrades! – Speak Freely Fridays

The advertising industry doesn’t have a union. Freelancers don’t have a union (although Freelancers Union is still a great resource). But, just because there isn’t a formal union established to protect us and ensure we are all getting a fair rate and working conditions, does not mean that we can’t protect each other and help each other achieve fair rates and working conditions. The key here is transparency. At some point, we’ve all been programmed to think that talking about money or benefits is dirty. I know a senior copywriter who I have known for years and who has never revealed their rate to me. I’ve asked point blank when considering referring him for a role. If you think this is none of my business, you are wrong. It is literally...
